I recently went to the Long Ridge Tavern with a group of 11 people to celebrate a friend's birthday and the experience was just awful. The food was sub-par, the dining room considerably understaffed, and the wait-staff inattentive. In fact, I don't believe I have ever had a worse restaurant experience in my life.
I ordered the Tavern Burger medium well - it was medium rare. My husband and a friend ordered pot pie, which comes with a "small field green salad" but neither of the pot pies were delivered with the salad. Generally our entrees were removed by the wait staff before we had finished our meal (the only time they seemed to be attentive). Dessert and coffee was served without additional silverware. The dessert wine that I ordered with dessert was never delivered to the table, but managed to show up on the bill. The warm apple-pear crisp that we ordered for dessert was anything but crispy - it should be called cold, tasteless apple-pear bread. Finally, to top it all off, there were 12 people at our table, but the bill came with 14 entrees billed to our table - two $20 salmon fillets that we had not ordered or eaten were charged to our table.
To be fair, the manager offered free coffee-drinks and desserts to us. However, this seemingly generous offer came after we had finshed our coffee and eaten our desserts and the manager wasn't offering to take those off the bill. We didn't take him up on the free coffee/dessert because after 2 1/2 hours at this place, and spending 1/2 hour going through a bill for 12 people and figuring out all of the things we had been charged for that we didn't order, we just wanted to get out of there. And to top it all off, b/c we were a part of 12, we were required to tip 18% for that experience. My husband and I, and probably the other 10 people we were with that night, will never go to this restaurant again, nor would we recommend it to anyone. |

My husband and I had a wonderfully romantic dinner. The food was excellent, the ambiance lovely. It is a good country restaurant right here in Stamford. Sister Sun was playing and the music made the night! |

We took a charming Harley Davidson ride for the evening.. We decided to pull into The Long Ridge Tavern. The waitor told us the building is more than 200 years old and is HAUNTED by the ghost of Mrs.Palmer... Mrs Palmer likes to chat the with ladies the waitor said.."She's been known to call the waitresses names from time to time. The food? Well.. I had to send my Crab Cakes back, they tasted like old perfume., and my husbands Steak was dry. We will go back, not for the food but for the Overall Ambiance..The lounge is so BEAUTIFUL and you can feel the days gone past.. So all in all.. not a great place to dine..but that's just the ONE time I've eaten there.. I would be willing to give old Mrs.Palmer one more go around just for the heck of it. |
