Ever had a croissant in Paris? One bite into the buttery puff-pastry delight at Susina, and you'll be taken right back. And the scones -- plain butter (there's that word, butter, again), raspberry-polenta, cherry-chocolate chip -- have no parallel. Also must-try's: Quiche, in their signature puff-pastry crust; italian cookies by the pound; and a key-lime pie in the absolute best graham-cracker crust anywhere, ever.
Oh yeah, and every member of the staff knows how to make a proper espresso drink, too.
This former New Yorker is especially fond of Susina, because the decor and menu bring back memories of Italian cafes in Soho and the Upper West Side. Nothing else like it in L.A.
Enjoy. |

This place is so charming. European and American desserts and pastries that are butter and chocolate lovers' dream. Fresh, delicious, lovely, yummy. Things to try - chocolate cherry scone, apple fante, berry blossom cake, Italian cookies, petit fours, banana cream pie, pear almond tart, and the best croissants this side of the Atlantic.
They also have great panini, salad, soup and quiche for lunch. And an endless supply of candy and sweets.
They just started new hours and are open every night until 11pm. Close to Hollywood and Beverly Hills. |

Charming relaxing place for coffee and dessert. Great breakfast pastry and paninis too. The flavors here are so delicate, not too sweet. Yummy.
As of May 1, 2005 they will be open to 11pm every night. |
